Display
Energy Certificates (DEC)
is an energy certificate for display in public buildings. It
must be displayed in a prominent place within the building,
this type of certificate is issued by a commercial energy
assessor qualified to Level 4 standards.Commercial
Energy Assessors also referred to as NDEA
Non-Domestic Energy
Assessors are responsible for calculating energy ratings
for commercial buildings. Energy Assessors produce the DEC
(Display Energy Certificates) for
public buildings. DECs are accompanied by Advisory
Reports, the asset is assigned an Asset Rating and an
Occupational Rating by the assessor. Further information

There
are different types of energy assessor to inspect a building,
dependent on the type of use of the property, and the type of
equipment installed within the building.

From 6th
April 2008 the Government has introduced new measures
for the energy performance of buildings. The legislation
will affect the owners and operators of existing and new
public buildings, a DEC is also required if the public
building is leased, or rented. An example would be local
authority premises.
Under the new
regulations a DEC
(Display
Energy Certificate) will be required in most cases,
with few exemptions. |
