Air
Conditioning systems for Commercial Buildings, Non-Dwellings, New
Build commercial property will require energy
assessment by air
conditioning assessors .Energy Calculations and Ratings
calculations will require an inspection of planned and
existing (HVAC - Heating Ventilating Air Conditioning)
equipment and controls by an assessor. Inspectors
of Air Conditioning plant and equipment must be qualified and
accredited as an Air Conditioning Energy Assessor. The EPBD EU directive requires that
EPC (Energy
Performance Certificates) are required for new build and
existing non-dwellings from October 2008, this will affect the
commercial property sector. Air conditioning first inspection
will continue until January 2011, and regular energy
inspections will continue after this date.
Commercial Buildings Energy Assessors
A commercial energy assessor can inspect air conditioning
plant and equipment provided they are qualified as a Level 3,
Level 4 or Level 5 Assessor. as such they are also qualified as an air
conditioning energy assessor.

Air
Conditioning Inspection
EPCC do not provide an inspection service for such systems
solely, however, we recommend that owners and occupiers of
commercial or industrial buildings where an air conditioning system is
installed is regularly checked to ensure that the system is
running in an energy efficient manner. This will assist in
improving the energy rating applied to the building when an
EPC (Energy
Performance Certificate) is issued. Property
managers, in the first instance will require that their air
conditioning system is operating efficiently, energy
saving measures for business which are often simple, and
effective can help reduce running costs, and reduce CO2
emissions. |
